For Midlands Co-operative Society’s HR Services team it’s vital that errors on procedural letters and invitations are picked up before they are sent out. Not only can mistakes cause issues with the processes, they may also mean that the recipients are confused or misinformed.
Simone Comelio, Learning and Development Manager, felt that the team should be able to find any errors before these important documents are sent out to employees and job applicants and therefore decided that some proofreading training was in order.
The training solution: Delivering easy to implement proofreading techniques
Simone selected Writing Machine Academy’s Grammar and Proofreading Quick Wins training because she was looking for a short course that would train as many people as possible in the time available. Of course, she also wanted delegates to be taught effective proofreading tips and tricks that they could use straight away.
“The Grammar and Proofreading Quick Wins course from Writing Machine Academy gave our HR and administration team easy to implement techniques to check their own work for sense and errors,” says Simone. “The course covered spelling, grammar and punctuation and provided great quick hints and tips. The half-day format worked really well, with a very inclusive atmosphere. And I’m pleased to say that the team is already putting what they learned into practice.”
Delegates were asked to give a score out of five on a list of feedback questions such as ‘Quality of the training content’, ‘Quality of the trainer’ and ‘I have learned new techniques that will enhance my writing’. The average score was 4.4 out of 5.
