Courses
The director of business operations at Olive Group recognised that their bid team needed some help in understanding what makes a good proposal, as well as learning how to edit a proposal and critically review it.
The team was made up of ‘home grown’ bid managers – employees who had moved across into bid management and therefore had different levels of experience in bid writing and no formal training. The team often had to edit material from Olive Group’s technical team, so they also had to understand how to turn this into clear, concise and message-led writing.
The training solution: a two-day course which looked at how to spot, edit and review proposals
Writing Machine Academy delivered two-day Structured Bid Writing training to the bid management team. The trainer was able to stretch those delegates with lots of experience whilst at the same time ensuring those with less experience kept up with the group. Time was spent on discussing what a good proposal looks like and how to review and edit text they received from colleagues. The Advanced day’s training covered executive summary writing, answering the question and punctuation.
Client feedback
Delegates were asked to give a score out of five on a list of feedback questions such as ‘Quality of the training content’, ‘Quality of the trainer’ and ‘I have learned new techniques that will enhance my writing’. The average score across all four courses was 4.3 out of 5.
“The course was better than I expected. I thought there might be a bit of ‘can’t teach an old dog new tricks’ but I was wrong! There were lots of new ideas.”
